RUTH TAYLOR Vintage Original Photo 1928 LINEN BK "GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES"

Description

Selling is a Vintage Original 7 7/16" X 9 1/2" Black & White Double Weight Linen Backed glossy photo with borders of RUTH TAYLOR from the 1928 film, "GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES".  The attached typed snipe on the back of the photo states, "The Evening bag calls for careful consideration.  The Gold and Silver embroidered envelope purse, accented with red and blue is quite correct says, Ruth Taylor, the blonde in the Paramount picturization of Anita Loos' "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes".
This photo is very early in the career of RUTH TAYLOR and quite RARE. This particular film is noteworthy in Hollywood history because Ruth's photo was mailed by Hollywood before the film was started but after she was chosen for the role. Her photo is considered to be the largest shipment of pictures of one person ever shipped from Hollywood.  She only played in films from 1925 through 1930. She is only 20 years old in this photo and in 1928, the year of this photograph, she was also a WAMPAS BABY STAR.   She was Anita Loos' choice for the lead role in this film. She would later marry a General in the military, who eventually became a stockbroker.
"The Mack Sennett Bathing Beauty star with trademark blonde spit curls, Ruth was discovered by Sennett in February 1925 when he was looking for a blonde to play in a Harry Langdon comedy. She was chosen from among two hundred girls who auditioned. Taylor was the only true blonde employed by the comedy producer at this time."(as reported by the imdb database).

dition, with very minimal handling wear.  There is an indentation in the background of the photograph, caused by the typed snipe on the back that is only noticeable when felt or seen in very bright light.  Superb resolution and focus.
