    Description

Up for auction is a U.S. Mark 3 trench knife pattern fighting knife with a silver parkerized spear-point blade.  It is a sturdy, well-made knife with composite handle scales, an M10 sheath and a leg tie-down cord in desert tan that comes in its original packaging.  Knife, sheath, cord and packaging are all in new old stock condition (see photos).
The knife has no markings and the maker is unknown, although there are M-7 bayonets with a similar appearance reportedly manufactured by General Cutlery Co. of Fremont, Ohio.  The sheath is marked “M10” on the front and “19204 ASSY 8448476 / MFG 1Z803” on the back.  The M10 sheath was first produced under contract with the U.S. Military in the mid-to-late 1980's and includes an integral nylon web belt hanger with black hooks similar to those on its predecessor, the M8A1 scabbard.  The packaging includes a paper insert with a bar code, what look to be various national stock and/or lot numbers and the date 1/91.
The blade appears to be unsharpened and is approximately 6-⅝ inches long with a false edge.  The parkerized finish is full and shows slight wear marks from insertion and removal from the sheath.  The guard and pommel are oval-shaped and parkerized black and all components are tight.  The knife is about 11-½ inches in overall length and weighs about 9 oz. (approximately 12 oz. in the sheath).
