    Description

Antique Shasta Springs, California, BOTTLE SODA/Seltzer~ with embossed matching Shasta RARE TOP!
This listing is for a Siphon bottle that is rarely available with the matching top.  All parts to this Bottle are in good condition for its age - no attempt has been made to cleaning any of the bottle.  See pictures they are part of the description.  Weight including top is 3 LBS 12 OZ.
Bottle Design: Cylindrical; Overall Size (inch): 11.5" (h); 4" (dia); CAPACITY: 34 fluid oz. marked on bottle front. Color: Clear Glass that sometimes takes on a purple hue based on angle of the light. Primary Labeling Style: Embossed in round slugplate etched finish - "SHASTA WATER FROM SHASTA SPRINGS.". The etched finish is crisp and in very good condition.  Base Stamp - I do not see anything. TOP the siphon head is made in three pieces: a two-part threaded collar that forms a grommet around the bottle’s neck and the valve-and-spigot assemblage that screws into place to hold the collar tightly against the glass.  A Glass Tube connected to the head, draws contents off the bottom of the bottle. The top has an "S" for Shasta, and "SHASTA WATER" in raised letters on the side.
Most early Siphon bottles were made in Czechoslovakia, Austria, Germany, and France. In around 1890, these bottles became popular in the United States. They are almost all high-quality containers made of thick glass to withstand heavy internal pressures (150 lbs / sq inch, created during filling / CO2).  I do not know where this bottle was made.
