Handsome fold-out 1961 Esso road map of the central and western United States, printed more than 58 years ago.
The map opens to 33½" x 24" and has great detail on old highway alignments, including U.S. Route 66, with cartography by the General Drafting Company.
The central states are on one side; the western ones on the other.
The coverage area includes Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
There are inset plans of Chicago and the Los Angles area.
The map was distributed by the Humble Oil & Refining Company in 1961 to promote its Esso brand, and it is dated in the legend. The code number on the back cover is P1260.
Condition:
This map is in
excellent condition,
bright and clean, with
no
rips or tears. There are two routes marked by Humble's Travel Service, through Dallas and Tucson, to Los Angeles. One of them is labeled "Winter Route." Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
