    Description

    1937 ad
    “The Last Train
    from Madrid”
This is a full-page magazine advertisement published in 1937. It measures 10 x 13.5 inches in size and is in excellent condition, printed on a glossy stock of paper.
With three photos from the movie, it promotes a film set in the Spanish Civil War while it was still going on, starring Anthony Quinn, Dorothy Lamour and Gilbert Roland.
    The ad proclaims,
“ ‘The Last Train from Madrid’ [is the] First Motion Picture Based on Spanish War.”
    Its text says, in part:
“Quick thinking, fast-acting Paramount Pictures comes through with the No. 1 action-drama based on Spain’s Civil War. Taking no sides, using bellum background only to color thrilling battle sequences, ‘The Last Train from Madrid,’ like Paramount’s famed ‘Shanghai Express’ tells tale of tangled loves and hates, writes in lightning letters romantic story behind departure of last train from besieged Madrid to sea-coast Valencia. . . .”
    Etc.
